David Coggins

David Coggins, MS, PT

Chief Executive Officer

David brings more than 32 years of health care expertise to HealthSouth New England Rehabilitation Hospital, of which ten years have been at the senior management level. He received his undergraduate degree in education from Northeastern University and a master’s degree in physical therapy from Boston University. David became the CEO at HealthSouth New England Rehabilitation Hospital in December 2017, after serving as the director of marketing operations.

Dr. Daniel Lyons

Daniel Lyons, M.D.

Medical Director

Dr. Lyons has been a medical director for HealthSouth New England Rehabilitation Hospital for more than 10 years. A graduate of Clark University, he completed his medical studies at Tufts Medical School. Dr. Lyons completed his residency in physical medicine and rehabilitation at Kessler Institute for Rehabilitation in New Jersey. He is board-certified in rehabilitation medicine, as well as spinal cord injury medicine.  

The hospital provides access to independent physicians.

Nerline Destin

Nerline Destin, LCSW

Director of Case Management

Nerline Destin joined the HealthSouth New England Rehabilitation Hospital leadership team in October 2017. She graduated from Regis College in Weston MA with a degree in Political Science. Additionally, Nerline obtained a Master of Social Work from Simmons College in Boston MA. She began her career in Social work at the Boston Emergency Team (Baycove), Walker Home and School and eventually transitioned to Case Management at St. Elizabeth Medical Center. She recently worked at CuraHealth in Boston as the Director of Case Management. Nerline is a licensed clinical social worker with more than 8 years of experience in Case Management.

David Dunn

David Dunn, CPMM

Director of Facilities

David has 16 years of facilty management experience in the senior living, LTC, hospitality and hospital sector. David is a AFE Certified Plant Maintenance Manager (CPPM). Additionally, David received training in OSHA Construction and Safety and OSHA General Industry Safety and Health. 

Jarvis Ford

Jarvis Ford


Jarvis graduated from Alabama A&M University in Huntsville, Alabama majoring in accounting and minoring in computer science. He has more than 12 years of accounting and operations experience at HealthSouth, with 8 years being at the home office in Birmingham, Alabama. Jarvis also received his Six Sigma Black Belt in August 2011 with work being performed in the company’s Supply Chain Operations (SCO) department. This included improving processes with the order procurement system, as well as project management work on the installation of equipment and supplies for the construction of new hospitals and bed additions. Jarvis started with HealthSouth New England Rehabilitation Hospital in October 2017, after coming from HealthSouth Rehabilitation Hospital of Mechanicsburg in Pennsylvania.

Teresa Hayes

Teresa Hayes, MSW, LICSW

Director of Marketing Operations

Teresa became the director of marketing operations at HealthSouth New England Rehabilitation Hospital in January 2018, after spending two and half years providing clinical consulting to acute rehabilitation hospitals across the country. With more than 15 years of experience in post-acute healthcare, Teresa leads a team that assists community members in accessing the acute rehabilitative level of care. She received her undergraduate degree in psychology from the University of South Alabama and a master’s degree in social work from Boston College. Teresa is the immediate past-president of the board of directors for the Brain Injury Association of Massachusetts and is still an active board member.

Lauren Healey

Lauren Healey, MBA

Human Resources Director

Lauren joined the HealthSouth leadership team in August of 2015. She graduated from Stonehill College in North Easton, Mass. in 2009 with a degree in psychology. Lauren began her human resources career working in manufacturing for Pierce Aluminum before transitioning to health care. She obtained her master’s degree in business administration from the University of Massachusetts Amherst’s Isenberg School of Management in 2015. 

Kevin Piendak

Kevin Piendak, EMBA, OTR/L

Director of Quality and Risk Management

Kevin brings more than 20 years of inpatient rehabilitation experience to his role of director of quality and risk management at HealthSouth New England Rehabilitation Hospital. After graduating from Quinnipiac University with a bachelor’s degree in occupational therapy, he began his career as a therapist and developed a wide range of clinical skills with multiple diagnostic populations. Since earning an executive master’s degree in business administration in 2002, Kevin has held a number of leadership positions within the inpatient rehabilitation setting. He has also served on the executive board for the Massachusetts Association for Occupational Therapists and remains active in initiatives that relate to the advancement of occupational therapy services within the state.

Thomas Plante

Thomas Plante, PT

Director of Therapy Operations

Tom is a graduate of Northeastern University, and has been practicing in the field of physical therapy for more than 16 years. He is experienced in multiple settings of physical therapy, including acute rehabilitation, outpatient rehabilitation, skilled nursing, home care and school based. His treatment areas focus on spinal cord injury, stroke, spasticity and wheelchair seating. Tom started with HealthSouth New England Rehabilitation Hospital, in December 2007, and became the director of therapy operations in December 2015. 

Deborah Rich

Deborah Rich, BSN, RN, CCM

Chief Nursing Officer

Deb brings more than 20 years of extensive nursing and case management experience to her role of chief nursing officer at HealthSouth New England Rehabilitation Hospital. She began her career as a certified nursing assistant and then attended nursing school to become a rehabilitation nurse at Youville Hospital in Cambridge, Mass. While at Youville Hospital, she spent many years as a liaison before advancing to the director of admissions. Deb joined the case management team at HealthSouth New England in 2007 as the director of case management, and in September 2017, Deb transitioned to her current role of chief nursing officer.
